Best for sharing

Works well with phones, social platforms, browsers, and most editing apps.

Apple video

A practical choice for iPhone, iPad, and QuickTime recordings.

WebM

Web video

A compact browser-friendly format commonly used for websites and web apps.

MKV

Flexible container

Useful when preserving multiple video streams or broad codec support matters.

Create a silent video in four simple steps. Everything runs locally in your browser.

  1. 01

    Choose a video

Drop one or more files into the upload area, or browse from your device.

  2. 02

    Pick a mode

Use Lossless for the fastest result, or Custom when you need a new format or quality.

    Start processing

Click Mute Video. Your files are processed in a background worker to keep the page responsive.

  4. 04

    Preview and download

Common ways to use a video muter

Removing audio is useful when the original sound is distracting, private, or no longer needed.

Social media clips

Prepare footage for platforms where you want to add music, captions, or a new voice-over later.

Screen recordings

Share a product demo or tutorial without leaking microphone audio, notifications, or background conversations.

Presentations and courses

Turn a visual walkthrough into a clean silent asset for slides, lessons, or autoplay pages.

Private or sensitive footage

Strip voices and ambient sound before sending a video to a client, team, or public channel.

Private by design

Your video stays on this device. MediaKit processes files locally with MediaBunny and Web Workers; videos are not uploaded to a server. The per-file limit is 2.00 GB, and you control when the output is downloaded.

FAQ

Video muting questions

Does muting remove the video image?

No. Mute mode discards the audio track and keeps the video track. Lossless mode avoids re-encoding the video whenever the source and output container allow it.

Will the output quality change?

Lossless mode keeps the original video stream, so there is no generation loss. Custom mode re-encodes the video and lets you trade file size against quality.

Can I mute more than one video?

Yes. Add multiple files and process them as a batch. Each result can be previewed or downloaded separately, and completed batches can be downloaded as a ZIP.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Processing happens in your browser on your own device. If your browser cannot decode a particular codec, try a more widely supported MP4 source or use Custom mode.

What is the fastest way to create a silent MP4?

Choose an MP4 file, keep Lossless selected, and click Mute Video. No video encoder download is needed for this path.

Why can a large video take time?

The browser still needs to read and package the local file. Long, high-resolution, or unusual codecs can take longer; keeping the tab open lets the worker finish safely.
